Ice Storm 2009

Ice Storm Day! No school for the kiddos. Amanda is helping Alex peek at all the ice and sleet. Jackson is glued to the Wii for the day. He's trying out the new game we got, Super Mario Galaxy.

How fun!

Well, I guess we won't be going anywhere today.... I'm thankful the power is still on! I'm ready for this to be over, in the meanwhile, I'll be creating new wristlets like this one i my shop.

2 inches of ice by the end of the day expected :(

**updated pics later in the day of the ice storm...

Looks like the trees are snapping and bending over.

Here is a little about the owner of this shop:

", I'm Ruth and I'm going with the saying "Do what you love and love what you do!" I love staying home and caring for my five children. They are very creative and some of the kindest kids you'd ever meet! I also love to sew and anything that involves a needle and thread...quilting, embroidery, needlework.I am thankful to be able to work from home, while still keeping a watchful eye on my little ones. It is a joy for me to cut fabric and then package it up beautifully to send to you. I hope you enjoy my store and come back often!"

My favorite-fabric bundles :)

Here is her wonderful profile!

Bio
Hello! My name is Heather Cheney, I am the owner and primary operator of Sugar Smitten Sweets and Mommy to the sweetest 2 year old girl ever! Sugar Smitten is a small cake decorating business that specializes in creative and unique cakes and desserts. I personally do the majority of the baking and decorating and am occasionally assisted by my husband, for some of the crazier tasks.I've been decorating cakes for the last 5 years and have loved the challenge and reward it is to create cakes that really stand out in a crowd. Check out my bakery website at www.sugarsmitten.comHere on Etsy I want to have some fun. I love decorating cakes, but those get a bit tricky to ship across the world. So I've decided to feature unique and delicious desserts and whimsical gifts. Be assured that all edibles are handmade in a fully licensed commercial kitchen with the utmost care and concern for health and safety. I love what I do and selling on Etsy gives me an opportunity to get my little creations out there and gives me a chance to spend more time at home with my daughter. Enjoy!

Beautiful hats can be found in this great etsy shop! So classic!
http://BONNIESKNITTING.etsy.com
This is a 1920s cloche made from beautiful vintage English suit wool. The wool hails from Bloomingdales NYC circa the 1960s. The wool is light olive in color and has a diagonal rib. The hat is encircled by a 1 1/2" band supporting a vintage plastic round buckle in brown and white. The buckle measures 2" across and is striped brown and white in the center. The cloche is lined in 100% cotton in dark brown. This cloche is made to be slightly over sized and fits low on the head around eyebrow level. The hat will fit a 22 - 23" head. It is a good idea to measure your head to ensure proper fit.

Made the Front Page of Etsy!

And of course I missed it as usual. I seem to have a knack for creating treasuries that make it to the FP, but I always am asleep when they are on the FP. Oh well!

Here's what made it this time, I love all these colors!

Etsy find of the day!

Oh, what a creative way to use ceramics! I love everything here :) In jewelry, of course. Check out this most elegant etsy shop- http://roundrabbit.etsy.com/

Nancy E. Schindler is the lady behind roundrabbit.

All of her porcelain jewelry is hand-crafted from start to finish by me. In an effort to be fresh, unique and original she makes all of her own molds (with the exception of just a few irresistibles) and she forms, glazes and finishes each piece by hand. NONE of her work is slip cast - each piece starts life as porcelain clay. Glazing is her passion and she takes extreme delight in experimenting with different combinations and firing techniques - as a result many of the glazes you see on the larger oval and round pendants will not be replicated identically. So if you see something and you like it you better grab it fast!
